Biosketch

 

 

Dr. Ali Bateman is a consultant physiatrist in the Acquired Brain Injury rehabilitation program; Spinal Cord Injury rehabilitation program; EMG laboratory and Peripheral Nerve Clinic; and in the Care for Advanced Multiple Sclerosis program. She is the Medical Director of the Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation program at Parkwood Institute and the Physician Quality Improvement Lead at St. Joseph's Health Care London.

Dr. Bateman completed a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy & Cell Biology at McGill University before completing medical school and residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and is also certified by the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists and holds the designation of CSCN Diplomate (EMG). Dr. Bateman completed a Master of Science in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto.

For her contributions to postgraduate medical education, Dr. Bateman has been awarded the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residents' Award of Excellence; for her contributions to hospital leadership, Dr. Bateman has been awarded the St Joseph's Health Care London Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) Award; for her empathetic clinical care, she has been awarded the Sisters of St Joseph’s Award for Excellence.

Research

Dr. Bateman's research interests include quality improvement, peripheral nerve injury, acquired brain injury, and spinal cord injury.
