    519Pledge, a London-based organization dedicated to assisting those in extreme poverty, has an annual sock drive. This year the WPA accepted the challenge to collect 519 pair of socks, and with the generosity of all those in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine 561 pair of socks were donated.

    Congratulations to the Transfusion Medicine team at both University and Victoria Hospital for the recent designation as a Using Blood Wisely Hospital. The designation is awarded by Choosing Wisely Canada and Canadian Blood Services to those hospitals that have met benchmarks in red blood cell stewardship and have demonstrated their commitment to reducing unnecessary red blood cell transfusions.
