Dr. Chandan Chakraborty Retirement
With more than 19 years of service in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Dr. Chandan Chakraborty is retiring on July 1, 2019.
Dr. Chakraborty completed his PhD from the University of Calcutta, India and completed postdoctoral training in Japan, the United States and Canada.
He joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in 2000 as a Limited-Term Assistant Professor, and became an Associate Professor in 2012. His research focused on toxicology and cancer cell migration. In addition to his research program, Dr. Chakraborty has demonstrated a deep commitment to teaching and mentoring students. He served as Graduate Chair from 2011-2018, and has continued to serve as a member of the Graduate Education Committee. He has taught and co-ordinated numerous courses, and will be continuing some of his teaching activities as a Limited Duties faculty member after his retirement. His service as a primary supervisor, advisory and examining committee member, mentor and counselor to hundreds of students and many junior faculty members over the years cannot be understated.
His devotion and commitment to graduate education have made our graduate program what it is today – vibrant, diverse and impactful.
We wish Dr. Chakraborty all the best in retirement and are excited to welcome him back in his new role this fall.
