Visiting Professors

The Visiting Professor (VP) series in Medical Imaging, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, is a diverse, unique, and exciting program offered to Residents and other students as an opportunity to meet specialists from around the globe. Topics range from such thought provoking matters as medico-legal issues, ethics, history of medicine, clinical and academic radiology, informatics and PACS, research, to a variety of other subjects of interest to the professional staff and residents. Our CME Director chooses speakers who are well informed experts in the chosen field of study.

Visiting Professors generally visit for a 2-day stay. The first day is spent providing rounds at 2 of the sites in London; the third day at the third site. Residents travel around the city with the Visiting Professor, so 3 full sets of rounds are available. The first evening, the Visiting Professor becomes the Keynote Speaker and presenter. All professional staff, adjunct professors, past professional staff, residents, and fellows from both Nuclear Medicine and Radiology are invited for the evening dinner and presentation, and, should the topic be of interest to other medical specialties, the invitation is extended to that group as well. Colleagues outside of the department of Medical Imaging are always welcome to attend.

For those who would like to attend but would like to become involved, Visiting Professors lectures are videotaped (with their permission) and are posted on our website within 1 month following the presentation. Those who do attend in person receive CME accreditation and are presented with a certificate, usually 1 day following the series.  Evaluation forms are provided for all guests and feedback is welcomed as it provides the basis for which topic areas are of most interest for future presentations. We are continually seeking means by which to provide the best experience for our professional staff and students.
