Divisions and Programs
The Division of Diagnostic Radiology has radiologists practicing at two Academic Health Science Centres in London: one at St. Joseph’s Health Care, and the other at London Health Sciences Centre at two sites namely University Hospital and Victoria Hospital. All three radiologists practice within groups. The practices of each have variable community clinical and academic presence within several community hospitals as part of the Academic Health Sciences Network that is currently in evolution. Integrated community hospital training experience was expanded in 2012 to include a private clinic with a formalized Western University affiliation agreement enabling community and clinic radiology rotation for residents.
The Division of Nuclear Medicine have Nuclear Medicine physicians practicing at the same three London hospital sites with also a regional community presence for both the provision of clinical service and education of trainees. The Division has both diagnostic and therapy expertise, and a jointly recruited a dual trained faculty member with hybrid imaging interest.
The Division of Imaging Sciences comprises of Physicists Scientists in two research institutes Robarts Institute at Western University and Lawson Health Research Institute. Our academic division faculty is cross appointed in the Schulich Basic Sciences Department of Medical Biophysics which enables graduate student supervision and basic sciences research.
In addition within the Department of Medical Imaging, clinical imaging investigators have developed a collaborative imaging focus by forming the Digital Imaging Group. To further enhance and develop inter faculty research at Western University our department is one of the foundational departments of the Biomedical Imaging Research Centre (BIRC) established in 2008. Inter departmental academic collaborations are fostered with faculty who are cross-appointed from other departments and conversely our faculty are cross appointed to other departments (e.g. Department of Neurosciences, Medicine, Pediatrics, Medical Biophysics, etc.).
