Visiting Professor - Dr. James Fraser
Dr. Fraser is a Professor of Radiology and Medicine (Cardiology) at Dalhousie University. He undertook his medical school training at Dalhousie and his radiology training at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver B.C. He has fellowship training in both Cardiac Radiology and Body Imaging with his primary area of interest being Cardiac Imaging including performing cardiac catheterization procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. His primary academic interests have been in education having served as both the chair of undergraduate radiology training program and as the program Director for the Dalhousie radiology resident training program and is now perusing his interest in international radiology education.More recently he has become very involved in the area of quality and safety in diagnostic imaging and is the Chair of the DI quality committee for Capital health region, co-chair of the Nova Scotia provincial quality and patent safety committee for diagnostic imaging and is a member of the Canadian Association of Radiologists imaging Quality committee. He has written and presented on Appropriateness of Imaging in Canada at both the provincial and National level. He has just completed several terms as officer on the Canadian Association of Radiologists board of directors, including 2 years as president and has served on the Board of Chancellors of the ACR. Dr. Fraser spent many years as a reviewer for the journal Radiology and was named to the editorial board of that journal in the past.
Dr. Fraser’s extracurricular interests include kayaking, windsurfing, waterskiing, sailing, cycling, hiking and skiing.
