Visiting Professor - Dr. Ania Kielar
Title of Talk: Why We Make Errors in Radiology, and Ways to Reduce Them
Biography:
Dr. Ania Z. Kielar MD, FRCPC, completed her radiology training at the University of Ottawa in 2005, followed by a 1 year clinical fellowship at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, USA.
Over the past decade, she has been a radiologist at the Ottawa hospital and became an associate professor at the University of Ottawa. She was the division director for 7 years from 2010-2017. She is the chair of the annual Canadian Association of Radiologists research and education competitions. She is also associate editor of Abdominal Radiology Journal.
Dr. Kielar has published over 80 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the medical literature and authored 15 book chapters. Her current areas of clinical interest and expertise include standardization of radiology reports and quality initiatives for decreasing errors in medicine. In her free, time Ania plays ice hockey and competes in various biking and running races.
