Q&A with Ryan

"While my road to med school was longer and more meandering that I initially thought it would be, it's given me the room I needed to grow as a person. Your journey to med school doesn't have to look like anyone else's."

What was your academic or life journey to applying to medical school?

I've been at Western for all of my degrees; I guess the School just can't get rid of me. I did my undergrad in Medical Science, then a Master of Science in Medical Biophysics and now I'm back for my MD. Western did get to take a little break from me after my Master's degree, while I worked in the medical device industry.

Would you change anything about your journey to medical school?

Not a single thing! While my road to med school was longer and more meandering that I initially thought it would be, it's given me the room I needed to grow as a person.

What do you like to do for fun?

I like to cook for my friends and share some of my favourite recipes with them.

What is your favourite local attraction, activity or restaurant?

Definitely look out for the Western Fair at the beginning of the year, otherwise one of my favourite places to visit in London is the farmers' market at the Western Fair District.

Where is your favourite campus study location?

The Law Library (but don't tell the law students).

What is your advice for prospective applicants?

Your journey to med school doesn't have to look like anyone else's.
