Why did you decide to pursue medical school?

I wasn't really sure about what I wanted to do when I was in highschool, but I knew I wanted to work with people. In undergrad, I volunteered in clinical research and at my local hospital which is where I found my interest in pursuing medicine.

What was your academic or life journey to applying to medical school?

I studied Health Sciences at McMaster, worked for one year in public health and then entered medical school. I'm the first member of my family to attend medical school, and thus leaned heavily on members of my community throughout the application process.

What do you love about Schulich Medicine?

I love the community and closeness that can be fostered! There is a lot of small group learning, which allows you to get to know people in your class that you may not have met before.

What organizations or extracurricular activities are you involved in through medical school?

There are tons of opportunities for community outreach in Schulich Medicine! For example, I volunteer with Teddy Bear Hospital, providing in-class sessions teaching kindergarten students about health and wellness.

What has your experiential learning been like thus far?

I enjoyed being a mentor for newcomers to Canada with the Cross-Cultural Learner Centre during my experiential learning. Furthermore, I am currently involved in clinical paediatric research as part of our research learning.

What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy rock climbing, running and playing ultimate frisbee!

What is your favourite local attraction, activity or restaurant?

If I'm not at the local climbing gym, you'll probably find me at Congee Chan...

What is your advice for prospective applicants?

Remember that this isn't a race - be patient with yourself! Each person's journey will look different and each twist or turn will teach you something.
