Why did you decide to pursue medical school?

To be honest, I had been blindly following the path to MD ever since I was a little kid. The adults in my life told me to become a doctor and I obliged to make them happy. It wasn’t until I was hospitalized for a critical illness in 2021 that I truly felt medicine was the right path for me. There, I was inspired by the passion and compassion of my amazing team of doctors who used their intellect and humanity to save my life.

What was your academic or life journey to applying to medical school?

I grew up in Markham, Ontario where I attended elementary and high school. I then went to Queen’s University to pursue my Bachelor of Health Sciences. I graduated in June 2023 and now I’m here!

What do you love about Schulich Medicine?

Schulich Medicine offers a full scholarship for entering medical students. The Schulich Scholarship has alleviated so much stress and provided financial security for me and my whole family. I am so thankful for the financial means to pursue my dreams!

Why did you become a Student Ambassador?

I hope to inspire and guide students from low-income backgrounds who wish to pursue medicine in overcoming the financial barriers to entry. That said, I am happy to help students of any background.

Would you change anything about your journey to medical school?

I would stop compulsively checking Reddit for information regarding the application cycle.

I love to run, paint, dance, and play sports.

Do you have a personal motto or favourite quote?

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Benjamin Franklin? Taylor Swift?

What is your advice for prospective applicants?

Start your application early! You want time to reflect on your life experiences and craft your narrative.
