Admission Requirements

The Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) Global Health Systems offers a unique opportunity for students to take core courses in management and management (e.g. Management Essentials, Professional Communication), as well as several specialty courses in Global Health Systems (e.g. Global Health Systems Foundations, Health Assessments, Critical Global Health Studies, Epidemiology of Major disease, Social and Economic Determinents of Infectious Diseases). Advocates for a healthier future, graduates will be well positioned to assume or fast track toward leadership positions in major government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the healthcare system both locally and internationally.

The incoming academic average of this program is usually ~85%, however the Admissions Committee will also strongly consider applicants based on global health interest. In this vein, our Global Health Systems program is invested in providing students with a curriculum premised on participatory engagement and experiental learning, and we emphasize the collaborative elements of this experience.

Applicants to Global Health Systems must possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited university, and have an explicit interest in working with marginalized populations - internationally and/or within Canada.

A complete application includes:

  • A curriculum vitae briefly describing your employment history, any other related academic or professional development, and any relevant work or community service
  • A Personal Statement (500-word maximum) - Please address the following three points:

    • Describe your short- and long-term career goals
    • Why is an MHSc in Global Health Systems is a critical next step towards you achieving your professional objectives?
    • Please describe how your previous experiences have influenced and informed your decision to pursue global health as a career
    • Please note that the exclusive use of generative AI does not produce a compelling Personal  Statement
  • Scanned and uploaded copies of all post-secondary transcripts
  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • Contact information for two references: one academic, the second may be academic or an employer

Applicants whose first language is not English must furnish evidence of their proficiency in the use of the English language. 

Application Deadlines

Applications open on October 1 of each academic year. Offers of admission are sent out on a rolling basis until seats have been filled.

March 31 - Final deadline for international applications 
July 15 - Final deadline for domestic/permanent resident applications

Application Fee
