FAQs

Where can I find a list of Practicum Placements for the Global Health Systems program?
There is no specific list of practicum placements. Practicum projects are tailored to suit the academic interests, skill sets (previous experiences) and future career objectives of the students in each cohort. Practicum Projects are determined after review of student biographical statements/expressions of interest submitted in September and modified in November of each academic year. Student interests are subsequently matched with the needs of partnering organizations and institutions abroad.

When will I know what my Practicum Placement will be?
Students enrolled in the MMASc in Global Health Systems submit their bios (clearly outlining their past experiences and future career objectives) in September of each academic year. Students are given the opportunity to modify these submissions in November to highlight any new areas of interest that they might have after their first term of classes. The submissions are subsequently reviewed by the Global Health Systems Program Committee in December. Students are informed of their placements in January of each academic year through one-on-one meetings with the Director of the Program.

What do I need to do to prepare for my placement?
Students are encouraged to research the organizations that they will be working with during the summer months and the proposed project that they will be working on to start prepare for their placements/ summer projects over the course of the winter term. Preparation for the summer term will require close consultation with the Director of the GHS program and any other assigned Faculty supervisors.
