As part of this experience, I am currently in Uganda for an 8-week practicum placement. I am fortunate to have been placed for a research internship with the Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP), a program that is focused on improving health through research. This is an NGO that operates in a region that once had an extremely high HIV infection rate of 19.1% of the population over the age of 15 years (Nalugoda et al., 1997).
