Advanced GI Minimally Invasive, Robotic and Bariatric Surgery
The Advanced MIS GI fellowship at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University is a Fellowship Council certified, broad based, clinical and academic fellowship offered by the MIS GI team. The service consists of six university appointed surgeons with a broad range of expertise in advanced minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery including: bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, hernia surgery, solid organ surgery and upper GI surgery. The service offers care in both laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery and therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP.
There is a strong academic research component to the fellowship program with affiliation with CSTAR (Canadian Surgical Technologies & Advanced Robotics). Fellows can opt to pursue a graduate degree in conjunction with their training.
All faculty are members of SAGES and other surgical specialty societies. Regular fellow attendance and presentation at national and international surgical conferences is mandatory.
