Second Annual Dr. Ian McWhinney Lecture Series

The Department of Family Medicine held the second annual Dr. Ian McWhinney Lecture Series on September 21, 2016. This series celebrates Dr. McWhinney, the founding father of family medicine, and was established in his memory. Dr. McWhinney was the founding chair of the Department of Family Medicine and one of the leading thinkers in the discipline of Family Medicine.

Dr. Marie-Dominique Beaulieu gave her lecture "The Perils and Promise of Proximity". Dr. Beaulieu is professor in the Department of Family and Emergency Medicine at the University of Montreal, scientific co-director of the Montreal Research Centre on Social Inequality and Discrimination (CRÉMIS), and a research associate at the Research Centre of the University of Montreal Hospital Centre.  Her research focus is on the implementation of care reforms and on interventions designed to improve the quality of primary care.
