Summary:
Globally, Indigenous Peoples represented culturally rich and diverse communities. Indigenous health was influenced by many factors, including determinants of health unique to Indigenous communities. Dr. Carroll covered several key research considerations when working with Indigenous communities, including traditional knowledges, strengths-based approaches, Indigenous research methods, and Indigenous data sovereignty.

This panel discussion aimed to shed light on critical global health issues specifically affecting individuals of African Descent. Panelists addressed why it was essential to spotlight these concerns within the broader context of global health.
The discourse delved into examples showcasing variances observed in health data among People of African Descent, emphasizing the unique challenges and disparities they faced. Our focus extended to examining how these variances manifested in population health data across Canada, North America, and globally.
Furthermore, the panel assessed the adequacy of current data capture methods and proposed strategies to address any gaps. By facilitating this discussion, we sought to deepen understanding of health disparities and provide guidance for global health initiatives.
