The Distributed Education program has recruited more than 850 Faculty Appointed preceptors in the network.  Faculty are practicing family doctors and specialists, who have community practices in addition to strong academic medical interests. Call for Applications: Regional Academic Director - Schulich Medicine Distributed Education – Kent-Lambton

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University is seeking applications for one (1) position of Regional Academic Director – Schulich Medicine Distributed Education – Kent-Lambton Academy (Chatham-Kent geography). The appointment will be effective January 1, 2025. The Regional Academic Director will provide leadership in all educational programs and processes across the medical education spectrum in each officially designated Schulich Medicine Distributed Education Academy. This person will work collaboratively with the Undergraduate (UME) and Postgraduate Medical Education (PGE) programs and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Education and will report to the Assistant Dean, Distributed Education. The incumbent will be responsible for promoting and fostering the perspective of rural and regional health care in the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum and liaise with rural and regional preceptors in UME, PGE and CPD distributed sites.

The candidate for the Regional Academic Director – Schulich Medicine Distributed Education – Kent-Lambton Academy is expected to have experience, knowledge and commitment to medical education in rural settings. They should be able to demonstrated ability to collaborate, communicate, and facilitate in complex environments. Established leadership and team building capacities and a track record of sustained commitment are expected.

The successful candidate must already hold an academic appointment within the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, and will require a time commitment of 0.5 days per week for a five year term, subject to renewal once on recommendation of the Assistant Dean, Distributed Education.

The applicant should forward a letter of intent, current Curriculum Vitae and the names of three references to the attention of Dr. Victor Ng, Assistant Dean, Distributed Education via e-mail attachment to distributed.education@schulich.uwo.ca no later than November 30, 2024 by 5:00 p.m. Applicants will be vetted by an Advisory Committee, who will carry out interviews of selected applications in December 2024.
