Making medical school memories
First and foremost, congratulations Class of 2020. I am sure I speak for everyone at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, when I extend a hearty welcome to all of you.
On August 30, you walked across the Alumni Hall stage, received your White Coat, recited the Hippocratic Oath and stepped into the world of medicine. This is an achievement medical students remember well, and we are very excited to add another group of intelligent and motivated classmates to our community. We offer you all our warmth and support in your journey ahead.
This summer has proven to be relaxing, eventful and exciting for us. Many students decided to pursue research, and engaged in projects ranging from cancer research in British Columbia, to paediatric research at SickKids in Toronto. Others had the opportunity to participate in international medical experiences. Students from Schulich Medicine travelled to Brazil, Israel and Hungary on summer electives and received experience in a number of areas from internal medicine to general surgery.
As we kick off the 2016-17 academic year at the Schulich Medicine – Windsor Campus, our classmates will be at different stages of their medical school experiences. The Class of 2018 will be putting their classroom knowledge to work as they enter the doors of hospitals as full-time clerks. The Class of 2017 will be participating in electives across the country and preparing for their residency interviews, and Classes of 2019 and 2020 will be sharing the Dr. Murray O’Neil Medical Education Centre for classroom learning.
Every year, we continue to build a strong program and community at the Windsor Campus. Whether you have ideas, questions or concerns, I am always available to discuss them with you. Together we can work together to ensure you have a fantastic medical school experience.
This year will foster many fond memories for all of us. Exciting extra-curricular clubs and integration weekends await us, and new friends and adventures are just around the corner.
Let us make this year a great one together.
