Dr. Caroline Hamm received the Glenn Sawyer Service Award.

This award was established in 1972 in honour of Dr. Glenn Sawyer, the longest-serving General Secretary of the OMA. The Glenn Sawyer Service Award is awarded in recognition of significant service to the OMA, medical profession, or public at the community level.

Dr. Hamm joined the staff of the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre (WRCC) as a fully qualified medical oncologist in 2000. Since coming back home to Windsor, Dr. Hamm has made a professional career commitment to deliver “World Class care to our oncology patients”, and to drive the academic development at WRCC – Medical Oncology Program. She is heavily involved in education, teaching blood course to UME students, supporting research and all PGME education

Dr. Hamm started her career as a teacher on a First Nations Reserve at the tree line in Northern Manitoba. After 8 years of teaching she decided to go to medical school graduating in 1992. Her specialty is medical oncology with special training and completed fellowships in hematology and in stem cell transplantation.

She is an Assistant Professor, Department of Oncology, Division of Medical Oncology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. She is Adjunct Professor, University of Windsor and Clinical Director, Windsor Cancer Research Group.

Dr. Shanti Rao completed her requirements for the Faculty Development Teaching Certificate at Schulich Medicine (this is only the second time this has happened within the Windsor Program faculty cohort).
