Celebrating our achievements and publications
We are celebrating the achievements of our faculty, staff, trainees and students. This month we’d like to congratulate Anna Farias, Nicole Sbrocca, and Drs. Abdul Naeem, Arthur Kidd, Darren Cargill, and Sharon Burey.
Anna Farias, Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, successfully obtained funding from the University of Windsor’s Centred on Learning Innovation Fund (CLIF) for her project, “Empowering first responders through an educational workshop on human anatomy.”
Nicole Sbrocca, manager of the Windsor Program, was the recipient of a Dean’s Award of Excellence for Staff. Nicole was recognized for her determination to create excellence in the Windsor Program and for bringing an aura of renewal to all the Program’s operations. Dr. Abdul Naeem, MD’14, recently achieved a second place finish in the Canadian Healthcare Education Commons (CHESC-CESC) Virtual Patient Challenge. This award from the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) and Canada Health Infoway recognizes important contributions to e-health and e-learning among Canadian medical students and highlights the utility of virtual patients for learning, teaching and assessment.
Dr. Arthur Kidd, assistant director, Learner Equity & Wellness, was presented with a 2014 University of Windsor Clark Award. This award honours Dr. Kidd’s outstanding personal service and contributions to the university’s community.
Dr. Sharon Burey, adjunct professor, Department of Paediatrics, co-developed a pilot research project on an innovative model for mentoring faculty in a distributed education setting. This approach uses existing resources, and relies on adult learning principles and theories of social constructivism. The project's poster is being displayed in the Medical Education Building.
