Paying it forward with a Commitment to the Community
Dr. Huma Kazmie, adjunct professor of paediatrics, is on a mission to pay it forward in her home country of India.
Growing up in Lucknow, India, Dr. Kazmie received scholarships from the Tauheedul Muslimeen Trust to pursue her studies. She is now helping fund this same trust that gave her educational opportunities, providing financial support for hospitals, schools and vocational institutes.
“I think because of the education I received, I am able to work in Canada,” she explained. “Many people contributed to help me reach my present position.”
Dr. Kazmie also contributes financially to her alma mater, the Aligarh Muslim University, as well as the local orphanage in her hometown. With this money, the organizations are able to provide educational opportunities and resources for disadvantaged children and students.
“I feel it is my duty to give back to my communities in both countries,” she said.
Being a part of the Windsor Program has encouraged Dr. Kazmie to help others. “I am very thankful for this wonderful Windsor community, which inspires all of us to be good at heart and strive to serve humanity,” she said. “I try my best to help people, including my patients and their families, to have healthy and happy lives.”
