Academic appointments

Dr. Davy Cheng was extended as Acting Dean of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, effective to December 31, 2019. The Decanal Selection Committee continues its work to identify and recruit a candidate within the next four-month period.

Dr. Tracey Crumley was appointed Interim Chair/Chief, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Gregory Gloor, PhD, was appointed Chair, Department of Biochemistry.

Dr. Ian Hons was appointed the Regional Academic Director for Oxford, supporting Distributed Education in the region.

Dr. George Kim was re-appointed Assistant Dean, Rural & Regional Community Engagement.

Dr. Lena Palaniyappan was appointed the Tanna Schulich Chair of Neurosciences & Mental Health.

Dr. Robbie Stein was re-appointed Assistant Dean, Learner Equity & Wellness, Undergraduate.

Brad Urquhart, PhD, was appointed Associate Dean, Basic Medical Sciences Undergraduate Education.

Dr. Chris Watling was appointed Director, Centre for Education Research & Innovation (CERI), effective January 1, 2020. He will continue in his role as Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) until December 31, 2019, during which time he will support all aspects of PGME and work with teams across the School to complete the accreditation process.

Dr. Eric Wong was appointed Faculty Lead – Assessment for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. He will lead the MD program’s Assessment Committee and Competence Committee, and will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the transition of the assessment strategy to competency-based medical education.
