SchulichMedDent Live focuses on mental health

“Keep an open mind, open heart and open ears.” 

For our most recent episode of SchulichMedDent Live, we were joined by members of the Global MINDS initiative at Western University. The interdisciplinary program focuses on mental health in Southwestern Ontario and around the world through sustainable partnerships with local community organizations.

This work includes the 7Gen project, connecting Indigenous youth with digital tools and skills to express themselves. The 7Gen team and Amanda Kennedy of Yotuni, an Indigenous social enterprise platform, shared their perspectives with us in honour of Bell Let's Talk Day.

“Not only are we carrying our own mental health issues, such as anger, frustration and anxiety, we’re carrying the mental health issues of our ancestors due to intergenerational trauma," said Kennedy.
