Gerry Cooper, EdD, received the The Douglas Bocking Award, and Dr. Larry Jacobs received The Class of ’62 Award.
Dr. Hema Gangam received a Faculty Development Mini Fellowship, and will be attending a conference on Maximizing Teaching Skills at Harvard University in April 2019.

Gilles Lajoie, PhD, was recently awarded the CNPN-Tony Pawson Proteomics Award from the Canadian National Proteomics Network. This award, formerly called the CNPN Distinguished Scientist Award, recognizes remarkable achievements on the fundamental understanding and/or practice of proteomics in biological sciences. Jeffrey Dixon, PhD, received a Life Time Achievements Award from the Canadian Connective Tissue Society. The award will be presented at the 24th Annual Canadian Connective Tissue conference to be held in Toronto from May 23 – 25. Read the complete announcement.
Professor Emeritus Peter Canham, PhD, received an Ontario Service Award for his contributions to the community through volunteer service with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Read the complete announcement.
Dr. Jason Chui was awarded the Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society Research Award (New Investigator) for his project “A randomized controlled study in detection and prevention of nerve injury using a novel automated Somatosensory Evoked Potential monitoring device in shoulder arthroplasty surgery.” Read the complete announcement.
Dr. Shalini Dhir won the award for Best Paper in Chronic Pain from the Chronic Pain Section of the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society. Dr. Dhir collaborated with Yves Bureau, Janice Yu, and Achal Dhir on the paper, “Ketamine, lidocaine and combination for postoperative analgesia in major liver resection: A prospective, randomized, four-arm, triple blind, placebo controlled trial.” Read the complete announcement.
Dr. John Murkin received the Critical Care Medicine Award from the Critical Care Medicine Section of the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society for his abstract, “Initial Soft Tissue Oxygenation is Inversely Associated With Prolonged ICU Admission”. Dr. Chris Doherty, Assistant Professor, Plastic Surgery, is the St. Joseph's recipient of the Professional Staff Organization Recognition and Reward Award. This award is presented to a staff member who "enables exemplary patient care, teaching and research through leadership, collaboration and/or innovation."
Drs. Jessica Howard and James Mather, and physician resident Dr. Wendy Cui, received teaching awards from the Department of Family Medicine.
