Celebrating our achievements
We are celebrating the monthly achievements of our faculty, staff, trainees and students. This month we'd like to congratulate Drs. Harinder Sandhu, Davy Cheng, Robin Walker and Claudio Martin, and the 2014 student research awards recipients.
Dr. Harinder Sandhu, vice dean and director, Schulich Dentistry, was the keynote speaker at a recent international conference in India. His keynote address was on "Leadership in Academic Institutions". He also gave an overview of Schulich Dentistry's Dental Outreach Community Service program (DOCS) and closed the conference by exhorting the delegates to consider using the DOCS model to bring dental care to the rural areas in the Punjab province.
Dr. Davy Cheng, chair/chief, Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, received a 2014 Canadian Society of Physician Executives (CSPE) Excellence in Medical Leadership Award for his leadership abilities and commitment to the development of other physician leaders. Dr. Robin Walker, professor, Department of Paediatrics, and Dr. Claudio Martin, chair/chief, Division of Critical Care Medicine, are now Canadian Certified Physician Executives, a credential designed to recognize and advance physician leadership and excellence through a national, peer-generated, standards-based assessment process.
Congratulations to the Schulich Medicine & Dentistry 2014 student research awards recipients. These award programs in medicine and dentistry aim to foster research excellence and encourage students to incorporate research activities into their future career plans.
