Award-winning faculty
Annually, Western University presents several teaching awards and honours to recognize excellence amongst faculty members. Once again, faculty members from across Schulich Medicine & Dentistry – were amongst those award recipients. Congratulations to Drs. Michael Reider, Cheryl Forchuk, Mandar Jog, Jerry Battista and Brad Urquhart.
Distinguished University Professors
Dr. Michael Rieder is an assistant dean, Undergraduate Wellness, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and scientist at Robarts Research Institute. Dr. Rieder was recruited to Western in 1998 and is currently a professor in the departments of Paediatrics, Medicine and Physiology & Pharmacology.
Dr. Cheryl Forchuk is a professor in Western University’s Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing with a cross-appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. Dr. Forchuk has been an active faculty member at Western for more than 15 years. As a professor and associate director of Nursing Research in the Arthur Labatt School of Nursing, she has established herself as an internationally acclaimed researcher in the area of recovery and community integration for people with mental illness.
Faculty Scholars
Dr. Mandar Jog, Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences, Neurology, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, has been selected as one of 13 Faculty Scholars recognized for their significant achievements in teaching or research. The recipients are considered all-around scholars and will hold the title of Faculty Scholar for two years and receive $7,000 each year for scholarly activities.

Dr. Brad Urquhart, professor, Physiology and Pharmacology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry received the Marilyn Robinson Award for Excellence in Teaching
