Welcome to The Pulse

Welcome to The Pulse - the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry's new Faculty and Staff Newsletter. And congratulations to Ian Cameron, Class of 2016, for submitting the name as part of our Name the Newsletter contest. We were thrilled to receive so many different name suggestions, and after some discussion amongst the Communications and Marketing team decided that The Pulse really did capture the heart of what we hope to achieve with the newsletter.

The concept of a monthly newsletter just for faculty and staff comes from you, and came as a result of conversations that I had the good fortune to have during my first few weeks at the School. During those meetings many individuals shared with me a desire to know more about what is happening with other departments across the School, to read about the success of our students, learn more about the fundraising support and understand how our strategic plan, project management office and leadership are advancing key initiatives that impact the future of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. To ensure we captured the opinions of as many of our colleagues as possible, we undertook a survey over the summer and the overwhelming response was in favour of a monthly newsletter.

We are excited to play a role in strengthening the relationships across the School and celebrating the success of our students and colleagues through the development of the newsletter. We hope you enjoy reading it. There is always an opportunity for you to share stories about activities in your department, and an online form is available for your convenience. Please send us your stories so we can share them with the whole school. As always, we welcome your feedback.
