The Stephanie Just Resident Award
Awarded annually to a postgraduate trainee in a residency program in Clinical Neurological Sciences (CNS), with preference given to a resident whose research involves a Quality Improvement Project in Patient Care. Candidates must submit a summary of the research project to the Departmental Office of CNS outlining the details of their project by March 3, 2025. A committee in the Department of CNS will select the recipient.
The resident’s QI project should fall into one or more of the following areas:
- improved patient/provider experience
- improved population health
- improved cost-effectiveness
This award was established by a generous gift from the Just-Freedman Family in memory of Stephanie Just, who passed away at age 8 after a long battle with Familial Dysautonomia. In her short life, she treated everyone with kindness and looked for the bright side of everything. Her sister is a 2019 graduate of the neurology residency program.
Award Application Criteria:
To be considered for the award, Candidates must:
- Be a postgraduate trainee in a residency program in Clinical Neurological Sciences
- The resident’s QI project should fall into one or more of the following areas:
- improved patient/provider experience
- improved population health
- improved cost-effectiveness
- Complete the online Qualtrics form provided with all of the required information by March 1, 2023. This includes:
- Residents name
- Contact information for the applicant
- Faculty Supervisor that the resident is working with
- Summary of the research proposal– Maximum 500 words and proposed budget
- Timeline of their project – 1 year
- Preference will be given to Quality Improvement Research Projects
- The winner of the award must sign off that they are comfortable presenting their project at the Clinical Neurological Science Research Day or another international Conference.
