About Us
Welcome to the Division of Cardiology. We are a Division of the Department of Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University. We provide secondary, tertiary and quaternary level clinical services to London Health Sciences Centre’s (LHSC) Cardiac Care Program and St. Joseph’s Health Care London ambulatory facilities. We strive for excellence and innovation in our clinical, research and educational cardiovascular health and disease programs.
Our over thirty cardiologists all have full time academic appointments with the School and are active in medical education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as in continuing medical education. The Division has a fully accredited Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Adult Cardiology Subspecialty Training Program, as well as the newly implemented RCPSC diploma fellowship programs in electrophysiology and interventional cardiology. Many Division members are active in basic and clinical cardiovascular research, with national and international recognition.
The LHSC Cardiac Care Program is the largest and the most established cardiac centre in Southwestern Ontario. All members of the Division are actively involved in providing inpatient and ambulatory cardiac care, providing a full range of ambulatory clinics and diagnostic cardiac services to the City of London and a population of over one million in the surrounding region. The Division provides the following services and procedures: cardiac catheterization and percutaneous coronary intervention; structural heart disease procedures; advanced heart failure management and cardiac transplantation; full cardiac consultation services; adult congenital heart disease and pregnancy management; cardiac rehabilitation; cardiac electrophysiology/arrhythmia management, including pacemaker, ICD, CRT and ablation procedures for ventricular and supra-ventricular arrhythmias; full non-invasive cardiac diagnostic services including ECG, ambulatory monitoring, stress testing, echocardiography and advanced cardiac imaging.
