International Liver Transplantation Society World Congress
Dr. Nelson Gonzalez recently presented at the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS) World Congress. This year, the Congress was held in Toronto, Ontario from May 15-18. ILTS seeks to promote and disseminate multidisciplinary scientific advances in liver transplantation worldwide. They bring together over 1,200 professionals from over 40 countries who are dedicated to promoting and learning about the scientific advances in liver transplantation.
The goal of this Congress is to broaden the education of scientists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, hepatologists, radiologists, pathologists, nurses, and organ procurement personnel and the care and treatment of liver transplant patients.
Dr. Gonzalez presented three sessions:
- Cognitive aid and clinical guide for safety and efficient intraoperative use of transesophageal echocardiography during liver transplant
- Successful OR to ICU handoff for complex surgical patients: A liver transplant model experience
- Improving patient handover from OR to ICU following liver transplant
Dr. Gonzalez spoke about the successful OR to ICU handover for Liver Transplant recipients and also the development of a cognitive aid and clinical guide for safety and efficient intraoperative use of Transesophageal echocardiography during liver transplantation.
