Dr. Godfrey Heathcote
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dr. Godfrey Heathcote in Bayfield, Ontario on March 20, 2024.
Dr. Heathcote served as the Department Chair/Chief of Pathology from 1996 to 2000.
Dr. Heathcote was an internationally recognized expert in the pathology and developmental biology of the eye and served as Chairman of the Canadian Ophthalmic Pathology Society (1999-2014) and President of the British Association for Ophthalmic Pathology (2016-2019). Following his term as Chair/Chief at Western University, he served as Chair/Chief of Pathology at Dalhousie University (2004- 2017) and later as Senior Medical Director of the Provincial Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Program in Nova Scotia.
