In Memoriam: Laurence John Fraher, PhD
It is with sadness that we share that Professor Emeritus Laurence Fraher, PhD, passed away on March 15, 2019 after a short battle with cancer.
Fraher was a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Biochemistry before his retirement in 2011. He was a passionate and dedicated educator who mentored and taught many graduate trainees and undergraduate students through the years at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry.
A scientist at Lawson Health Research Institute, he studied Vitamin D biochemistry and skeletal biology and applied his knowledge to the treatment of osteoporosis. He is remembered fondly by his colleagues for his insightful intellect.
He is described as being a successful scientist who was also very humble and used his gifts selflessly to help others.
