In Memoriam: Dr. Raj Harricharan
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Dr. Raj Harricharan, Vice Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. Dr. Harricharan was dedicated to his role as a psychiatrist and academic mentor for more than two decades. He believed in empowering those who surrounded him including his patients and the many students and residents under his mentorship over the years.
Those who knew him reflect that he cared deeply for his colleagues and his patients. He saw the potential in each of his patients and wanted to make each of their lives just a little bit easier. He went out of his way to help each person with whom he came in contact.
Dr. Harricharan also served as the Chair/Chief of the Division of Forensic Psychiatry and Interim Chair from 2017-2018 and played a central role at the Prevention & Early Intervention Program for Psychoses (PEPP). Nationally, Dr. Harricharan was on the Psychiatry Examination Board of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and was a member of the Canadian Organization of Undergraduate Psychiatric Educators, as well many others.
The visitation and funeral will take place April 12 and 13, 2019.
