Department of Surgery Faculty Members Receive Honours

Dr. Robert Bourne (left) and Dr. Cecil Rorabeck(below left) were both invested into the Order of Canada this past fall.
The Order of Canada was created in 1967, during Canada's centennial year, to recognize a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
Since its creation, more than 5 000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order. Dr. Bourne was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada, and Dr. Rorabeck is now an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Dr. Christopher Schlachta (left) and Dr. William Wall (below left) were both awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal on February 6th, 2013. The ceremony took place at Rideau Hall in Ottawa, Ontario.
The medal serves to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians who have dedicated themselves to service to their fellow citizens, their community and their country.
