Speaker Bio:
F. Gigi Osler, BSc (Med), MD, FRCSC
Dr. Osler is a dedicated advocate for physician leadership, equity and diversity, physician wellness, global health, and virtual care.
She is an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Manitoba. She co-chairs the Virtual Care Task Force, a joint collaboration between the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
She is chair of the Canadian Medical Forum which brings together leaders of Canada’s major national medical organizations to strategize on priority health care issues. She is also the president-elect of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada, 2nd vice president-elect of the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and a past president of the CMA.
In her leadership roles, she has fostered engagement with physicians and allied health care professionals across Canada and the world. In 2017 she was awarded the Doctors Manitoba 2017 Health or Safety Promotion Award. In 2019 she was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network and a CMA Physician Changemaker. In 2020 she was awarded a University of Manitoba Distinguished Alumni Award and named to the Canadian Women in Global Health List.
