Dr. Doug Ross re-appointed Chair/Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

The Department of Surgery is pleased to announce Dr. Doug Ross has been re-appointed Chair/Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery until July 1, 2016.
Dr. Ross completed his undergraduate degree and medical school at UBC, followed by postgraduate plastic surgical training at the University of Toronto. He completed fellowships in Toronto and in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Ross also holds a Masters of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Ross joined the Department of Surgery at Western University in 1992 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2002 and Professor in 2010. He was one of the first surgeons to join the world-renowned Hand and Upper Limb Centre. His academic and clinical interests include surgical education, upper extremity surgery, reconstructive microsurgery and peripheral nerve surgery.
Dr. Ross has served in several important initiatives for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, including membership on the Taskforce on Timing of Examinations, the Evaluation Committee, and the Committee on Assessment for Diploma Programs; as well as the Chair of the Examination Board in Plastic Surgery. He is immediate past-President of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the current Chair of the Education Foundation of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons and continues as the Director of Surgical Education in the Department of Surgery. Dr. Ross held the A.D.Mclachlin Professorship in Surgery from 2007-2010.
