About Stories of Service
The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University opened its doors in 1881 and from its inception, faculty members and learners have used their medical and dental training to support the Canadian military – serving their country in times of war, conflict and peace. These long-standing contributions continue to play an important role in the School’s mission to advance human health at home and around the world.
Stories of Service features the School’s history with the Canadian Armed Forces and profiles the Medicine Class of 1950 – the Veterans Class. It explores medical research and how it is improving medical care on the battlefield, as well as for military personnel when they return home. And it tells the continuing story of the School’s commitment to Canada by introducing current learners and young alumni who are pursuing their medical training while serving as members of the Canadian Forces.
