Dr. Subrata Chakrabarti named Geographic Leader for Asia
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Subrata Chakrabarti has been named Geographic Leader for Asia. The role of Geographic Leader is to serve as a resource and support to the Dean, the Senior Leadership Council and the Internationalization Office in developing a strategic direction for educational, clinical and research activities for the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry related to the specific country or region. This administrative post will begin July 1,
Dr. Chakrabarti has been actively engaged within the Asia region for more than 12 years in the areas of teaching, supervision of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, as well as research collaborations. He has a strong professional network at several universities in China and India and has honorary appointments at several Chinese universities. He was awarded two China Canada CIHR research grants and has published extensively with Chinese collaborators.
Dr. Chakrabarti takes over the role from Dr. Davy Cheng who served as Geographic Leader for China. With an increase in opportunities related to international education and research across Asia, the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry wants to expand its reach in this area and therefore broaden its scope beyond China. The new appointment takes this into account. We thank Dr. Cheng for his many contributions in the role.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Chakrabarti on his appointment.
