One Health
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine has introduced a new Honors Specialization module in One Health that will lead to graduation with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) degree. This unique module is created in collaboration with the Departments of Sociology and Geography in the Faculty of Social Science to enrich the education and research experience of BMSc students. One Health is an interdisciplinary approach that recognizes that the health of humans is connected to the health of animals and the environment.
This is the first undergraduate program leading to specialization in One Health in Canada. This interdisciplinary program will introduce the students to various drivers of human health and disease through coursework and research involving the One Health approach. Research projects in the senior year will be offered by supervisors from various departments and faculties across Western University. Information on admission and course requirements is provided in the Western University academic calendar.
