Observership Requests

  • The London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP) is located at the Victoria Hospital site and clinics run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and start up again at 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (LRCP clinics are closed on Public Holidays)
  • Driving Directions and LRCP map
  • Observership Students shall maintain the standard of ethical behaviour as laid down by the CMA Code of Ethics
  • Students are to make arrangements of date, time, physician, etc. directly with the physician (contact details of each physician and administrative support is within the Disease Site Teams)

Schulich Medical Students (London)

  • Students are to make arrangements of date, time, physician, etc. on their own.  Please note that students are only permitted to have clinical electives outside of class time - i.e. Year 1 students can do clinical electives in the afternoons, and Year 2 students, in the mornings.
  • Log observership with the Undergraduate Medical Education Office by using Single Sign On.  It is mandatory that students add the Observership information to Single Sign On, PRIOR to the observership.

For all NON UWO - Medical Students (All other students/observership requests (Non-Schulich Medicine Students)

  • Follow the Observership procedure through LHSC Medical Affairs - please complete and process at least 2 WEEKS PRIOR to your observership date.
  • All documents must be completed, signed by the observer, and faxed together with a current CV to the preceptor's office at LHSC.

Steps for Observer to take

  • Choose a Disease site of interest or a Sponsor (Physician) you wish to work with from the Disease Site Teams and Members drop down below.
  • Contact the Program Coordinator, or Medical Secretary (listed below) via email to inquire if they can accommodate your request.
  • Clearly identify your current education, training and expectations of observership.
  • Clearly state dates, times and desired timeline of observership.

Students can connect with the respective Medical or Radiation Oncology Program Coordinator directly to arrange for an observership as per the above guidelines (please note the two different procedures (above) for observership requests for Western University Medical Students and all other students).
