Application Process

Students must meet all the admissions criteria of both the MD and PhD programs.

Eligible applications will be evaluated by the MD/PhD Committee, using the same criteria of academic achievement and scores as the Medicine Admissions Committee, as well as assessing the research experience of the individual. Qualified candidates are selected for interview, in order to get a sense of the general skills, personality and potential of the individual, as well as their ability to cope with the workload and demands of the combined program.

 Application deadline is October 1st. 

To apply to the MD/PhD Program, applications must be submitted through the Ontario Medical School Application Service (OMSAS).

Additional references are required for the MD/PhD portion of your application. This includes 2 confidential letters of recommendations focusing on your research accomplishments and potential to become a clinician-scientist.

  • Written Statement of Intent:
    • Statement of intent describes your interest in the program, commitment to being a clinical scientist, and possible direction of study. Max 6000 characters
