LRMF Management Changes
The LRMF would like to welcome Drs Jane Rylett, Stephen Pasternak and Marco Prado, who will be assuming management of the Confocal Core facility. Drs Donald Welsh, Geoffrey Pickering and Chris Ellis will remain in directorship of the VITAL Core facility.
Dr. Rylett is a Distinguished University Professor at Western University. She is a cellular and molecular neuroscientist, and recognized nationally and internationally for her contributions to cholinergic neurobiology and Alzheimer’s disease research. Dr. Rylett has served as Chair, Department of Physiology and Pharmacology since 2005. Dr. Rylett's full biography may be found here.
Dr. Stephen Pasternak is a Neurologist specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative disease and a basic scientist at the Robarts Research Institute at Western University. At his clinic in Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer's Disease Research Centre at Parkwood Institute of St. Joseph's Hospital he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative disease. Dr. Marco Prado is a neuroscientist and Professor of at Western University. His work centers around how neuronal communication can be manipulated to treat or prevent neurological and cardiovascular disorders. Of particular interest to Dr. Prado is the role of cholinergic synapses, that release the chemical mediator acetylcholine, in Alzheimer’s disease and in learning and memory.
