Western Global Opportunities Award
Value: Multiple awards of $1,000. Western International offers awards for international learning experiences including exchanges, study abroad programs, international field courses, summer programs, international service learning, field research, and more.

CGS Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements (CGS-MSFSS)
Value: up to $6,000. Canada Graduate Scholarship supplemental award for research studies outside Canada for a duration of 3-6 months. For more information on the application procedure, visit the Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies CGS-MSFSS page.
Eligibility: Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada who is registered full-time at Western. Applicant must have a Canada Graduate Scholarship award at the time the research study abroad begins.
Mitacs Globalink Awards
Mitacs offers several awards for graduate students to research and train in partner countries. For more information, visit the Mitacs Globalink website.
Globalink Research Award: $6,000 award for a student working on a joint research project for 12-24 weeks in a partner country (Brazil, mainland China, India, Mexico, or Vietnam). Mitacs-JSPS Internship: 10-week research project in Japan that aims to strengthen Canada-Japan research collaborations. JSPS will provide round-trip airfare, insurance, a maintenance allowance, and a research support allowance.
Organization of American States Academic Scholarships
The Organization of American States (OAS) offers scholarships for study or research at Master's or PhD level in an OAS member state (North America, Central America, or South America). For more information about scholarships at specific institutions, visit the OAS Scholarships website.
EMBO Short Term Fellowships
The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) offers fellowships for PhD research visits of 3 months in EMBO member countries in Europe, especially for the use of techniques unavailable in the applicant's home laboratory. The fellowship covers travel costs plus substidence. There is no deadline for applications, however it is recommended to apply three months before the proposed start date. Australia
Endeavour Research Fellowship
Value: Up to $43,000 AUD. Fellowship for short-term research (4-6 months duration) at the Masters, PhD, or postdoctoral level in any field of study. For more information, visit the Australian Education International website.
Austria
Ernst Mach Grant
Value: 1,050 Euros per month (plus additional stipends). Grant for short term study/research (4-10 months) at an Austrian university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) in a field of natural sciences, technical sciences, human medicine, health sciences, agricultural sciences, or social sciences. China
Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program
The Chinese Ministry of Education and DFATD Canada jointly sponsor this scholarship for short-term study/research (4-12 months) at participating Chinese institutions. The scholarship covers tuition fees, monthly stipends, and accommodations. The application is now open until March 10, 2016. Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program
The Chinese Government has full or partial scholarships available for educational exchanges between Chinese and international institutions. The full scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, stipend, and medical insurance. Applications open between January and early April. Estonia
DoRa Programme for doctoral students
Value: 350 EUR monthly. Funding stipend for doctoral students to conduct short-term research projects (1-20 months) in Estonia. For more information, visit the DoRa Programme website.
Germany
RISE Professional
Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) Professional offers scientific research internships for graduate students in Germany at companies and non-university research institutions with strong relations to industry. All participants receive a scholarship from DAAD and an additional stipend from their host company/institution to help cover living expenses. Funding is possible for a period of three months in summer or fall. German language requirements vary according to the internship placement. Eligibility: Master’s and PhD students from North America in the field of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering or a closely related field.
Bayer Foundation Scholarships
The Otto Bayer Scholarship, Carl Duisberg Scholarship, and Kurt Hansen Scholarship are available for study or research in Germany in a science field (natural sciences or medicine). For more information about each scholarship application, visit the Bayer Foundation website.
India
Shastri Scholar Travel Subsidy Grant (SSTSG)
The Shastri Institute assists Canadian faculty, graduate students, and post-graduate students with travel subsidies to participate in conferences, workshops, seminars and academic meetings in India. There are 12 awards of up to $1,000 available to support international airfare costs. For more information, visit the SSTSG website.
Ireland
ICUF Dobbin Scholarship
The Ireland-Canada University Foundation (ICUF) supports short visits (4-6 weeks) between Ireland and Canada by graduate scholars conducting research related to both Ireland and Canada. Japan
JASSO Scholarship for Short-Term Study in Japan
The Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) supports student exchanges ranging from 8 days to 1 year long at a Japanese university, graduate school, junior college, college of technology, or professional training college. The scholarship provides a monthly stipend of ¥80,000. Applications for the scholarship will be accepted through the Japanese school of choice starting in April. Mexico
Foreign Government Awards Program - Mexico
This award from DFTAD Canada supports Master's, PhD, or postdoctoral study or research in Mexico for 6-12 months. The award covers airfare, tuition, and monthly allowance. Visit the Government of Canada International Scholarships webpage for updates.
Mexican Government Scholarships for International Students
The Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) offers scholarships for undergraduate/graduate mobility programs, graduate level research, and postdoctoral fellowships in Mexico. Scandinavia (Denmark, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Finland, Norway, Sweden)
The Canadian-Scandinavian Foundation Scholarship
The Canadian-Scandinavian Foundation (CSF) sponsors a $500-$2,000 bursary for study or research in Denmark, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Finland, Norway, or Sweden. Switzerland
ThinkSwiss Research Scholarship
ThinkSwiss sponsors a scholarship for American and Canadian students to conduct summer research for 2-3 months in any field at a public university or research institute in Switzerland. PhD Scholarships of the University of Fribourg
The University of Fribourg offers scholarships for foreign students who would like to undertake a research stay for 4-6 months at the PhD or postdoctoral level. The deadline for application is February 28 for the autumn semester and September 30 for the spring semester. Value: CHF 1,700 per month. Turkey
Research Fellowship for International Researchers
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) grants fellowships for international PhD students and young post-doctoral researchers to pursue research in Turkey in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technological Sciences, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the potential to contribute significantly to Turkey’s goal of international cooperation in scientific and technological development.
Value: Monthly stipend of 2500 TL, travel costs up to 2250 TL, and health insurance premiums up to 70 TL per month.

United Kingdom
Commonwealth Scholarship Plan - UK

Scotland's Saltire Scholarships
The Scottish Government and Scottish Higher Education Institutions offers scholarships for one year full-time study in Bachelor, Master's, or PhD level in priority sectors of creative industries, life sciences, technology, financial services and renewable/clean energy. USA
Traditional Fulbright Canada Student Awards
Fulbright Canada awards are intended for Canadian graduate students, prospective graduate students, or young professionals who wish to study and/or conduct research in the United States. Awards may be held at any university, research centre, think tank, or government agency in the United States. Value: $15,000 for one academic year (beginning September).
