High School Students
High school students who are interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (B.MSc) are encouraged to take the recommended courses listed for the Medical Sciences First entry program in the Faculty of Science. These courses include:
- Grade12U Biology
- Grad 12U Calculus and Vectors
- Grade 12U Chemistry
- Grade 12U English

University Students
University students who are considering applying for a Master's Degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics need to complete a four year honors undergraduate program in a field such as: Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Science, Statistics, Mathematics,Computer Science, or others. Entrance into both the Master and Doctoral programs are highly competitive and meeting the minim requirements does not guarantee entrance into the program.
Undergraduate Degree
The Undergraduate Degree is listed under the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc Hons.) with a focus in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and can be completed in approximately 4 years.
Graduate Degree
A master's Degree (MSc) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics is obtained through a combination of course work and a thesis research project. This program is 2 years.
A doctoral Degree (PhD) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics involves advance studies into the fields of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and can be completed in approximately 4 years.
Doctor of Medicine
Some graduates of the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc), Master's Degree (MSc) and the Doctoral Program (PhD) chose to pursue a medical degree. This route can lead to a career in clinical epidemiology, the practice of medicine, and conducting research (among others).
