Dr. Greta T. Swart Essay Competition
The Greta T. Swart Essay Award in Developmental Disabilities for the best essay will be awarded annually to an undergraduate medical student (in any year) at Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University.
The essay should describe a clinical experience with a patient with an Intellectual Disability at any stage of the lifespan. Essays can relate any clinical experience with a patient with an Intellectual Disability, including the management of physical health, mental health, or both, either in the hospital system or in the community.
The essay should be less than 2000 words in length and typed double spaced with a 12-point font. The total word count should be placed at the top right-hand corner of the first page. Entries beyond 2,000 words will not be considered.
The amount of the award is $1,000. Please note that all essays submitted may be published in the Clinical Bulletin of the Developmental Disabilities Program.
