CPD Digital Innovation & Research Grant
The CPD Office is pleased to support Schulich Medicine & Dentistry faculty in conducting research and/or innovation related to digital learning in the field of Continuing Professional Development.
The CPD Digital Innovation & Research Grant (CPD Digital IRG) has two options available:
Option 1: CPD Digital Innovation & Research Grant
The CPD Digital IRG is intended to support innovation and/or research relevant to digital learning in the field of Continuing Professional Development. This includes Continuing Medical Education, Continuing Dental Education, and Faculty Development. This grant is also intended to provide opportunity for student involvement in educational research and/or innovation.
Grants up to $25,000 are available to Schulich Medicine & Dentistry faculty to cover applicable costs accrued in the development of CPD-related innovative projects or CPD research. Grants are not intended to cover costs already incurred.

The deadline to submit applications for the 2025 competition is 11:59pm (EST), March 1, 2025. Late applications will not be considered.
Option 2: CPD Digital Innovation & Research Grant Mentored Education Research Team
This innovative opportunity is intended to support faculty across Schulich Medicine & Dentistry who are interested in acquiring skills and experience in medical education research through participating as part of a mentored team that will engage in research relevant to digital learning in the field of Continuing Professional Development.
Faculty apply as individuals to be part of a team that will be mentored by a faculty member from the Centre for Educational Research & Innovation (CERI). Up to four faculty members will be selected to be part of the team, which will be selected by the CPD Digital IRG Adjudication Committee. The team will collectively develop a research or innovation project, so individual applicants need not come with project ideas.
The team will be granted up to $50,000 to support the completion of their project. Projects must be completed within three years of the date of the award.
The grant guidelines and application form are available in the links below:
Please note that there will not be a Team Grant (Option 2) competition this year, but it will return in 2026.
