At Western University

The Health Professions Education program in the Faculty of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Western University supports both master's and PhD students' research in the broad area of health professional education and practice.

Distance-Based

The Canadian-Maastricht Masters of Health Professions Education, which began in July 2012, is a two-year, half-time program taught in English. While it is largely based on distance learning, students will spend two, three-week study periods at the Centre for Education Research & Innovation (CERI) in London, Ontario or the Centre for Health Education Scholarship (CHES) in Vancouver, British Columbia. Students will receive a Master of Science degree in Health Professions Education.

The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto (OISE/UT) is one of the largest and most research-intensive faculties of education in North America. Although their training is not specifically oriented towards medical education, they do offer a Masters of Education.

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Graduate College offers a Masters in Health Professions Education as a means of providing the training necessary to produce effective leaders in health professions education. Acknowledging a wide diversity in educational and professional backgrounds, the MHPE offers some flexibility for candidates to design a curriculum that fits their needs and interests.

The University of Dundee offers four levels of studies in medical education, including a Master's of Medical Education. Most participants who study at Dundee do so via distance learning.

The University of Cincinnati offers an online Master's of Medical Education was developed as a joint project between the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati College of Education.
