Matthew Menear, PhD, is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Université Laval and Researcher at the VITAM Research Centre for Sustainable Health.  He currently holds the roles of Scientific Director of the Quebec primary care practice-based research network and Scientific Leader of the RCPI, a provincial centre of expertise in interprofessional collaboration.  Trained in Public Health, he is a health services researcher whose research focuses on improving access to high-quality mental health services in primary care.  Many of his projects focus specifically on improving the engagement of patients and families in their care and in the health system, and on supporting the implementation of mental health services that are more person-centred and recovery-oriented.  Dr. Menear’s broad research interests include models of collaborative and integrated care, the management of multimorbidity, knowledge translation, and innovative strategies for system transformation.  His methods expertise includes participatory research approaches, patient-oriented methods, knowledge syntheses, and mixed-methods research.
