I am an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine, am cross appointed to the Department of Public Health Sciences and am an Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) Adjunct Scientist. I co-lead a community based participatory action research team called I-CREAte (Innovations in Community Resilience Equity and Advocacy). I am a member of the core group supporting the Rourke Baby Record, Canada’s evidence informed health supervision guide for primary care of young children. I am committed to social justice and to understanding how health systems can more effectively serve the needs of under-served groups. My research interests include social determinants of children’s health with a focus on family income and children’s health, developmental assessment in young children, using community based participatory methods. My work also focuses on evaluating interventions that can improve social determinants of health, including screening and mechanisms to improve integration of social services with health services, health justice partnerships and other innovations. Additional research interests include access to health services for adults with mental health disorders, and other under-served groups.
