Maddie McKay, BSSc, MA

Maddi currently works as a Policy Advisor at Doctors Nova Scotia (DNS). Her portfolio includes family medicine, COVID response, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). Her policy research has directly informed provincial government strategic plans and been cited in the provincial legislature. Prior to starting at DNS in March 2020, she held the position of Research Associate at Dalhousie Family Medicine, working under Drs. Ruth Lavergne and Emily Marshall and focusing on the Early Career Primary Care Physician Practice Patterns study. In 2022, she led the publication of the study’s paper on government policies targeting family physicians in Canada. She has also previously worked for the federal government on public health files. Maddi holds a Master of Arts in Health Promotion from Dalhousie University (2018), where her thesis qualitatively explored food insecurity among rural, older women. In 2023, she returned to the program as a sessional instructor for undergraduate health policy.
